Hammering is performed
mechanically with the hammer lifted by a chain, which is driven by an electric
motor.
The rod is extracted by means of the hydraulic device.
A rate of 24 blows per minute can be attained.
Data are captured automatically, the penetration depth being recorded for every blow.
The data file created is compatible with the Division's DCP software, thereby reducing data-processing time.
Outputs include pavement structural number, CBR, UCS and Elastic Moduli values, structural E80 capacity, deviation from standard pavement balance curve and redefined layer strength diagram.
