This philosophy is embodied in a set of engineering principles and practices resulting from Dynatest's ongoing effort to understand, quantify, and synthesise the complex relationships between pavement performance and material quality, traffic loading, and environmental influences.

Simply stated, it is the conviction these relationships must be recognised and utilised to the greatest degree possible in the practical world of pavement engineering.
This "analytical" or "mechanistic" approach places emphasis on the structural characteristics and functional condition of pavement systems to predict future performance.

Traffic loading is considered to be a primary, but not the exclusive, contributor to structural deterioration of pavements.
