Survey - Data Collection Program

Survey is a video and data collection package designed for assisting and utilising visual observation data.

The user friendly program allows the users to modify the program for many types of surveys from visual surveys to traffic counts.

Cameras

Two cameras can be mounted along with a Distance Measuring Instrument (DMI) and or Geographical Positioning System (GPS).

The cameras capture pictures which are linked to the observations by chainage.
The pictures can be captured at specified intervals or as chosen by the operator, or a combination of both.

Input

The operator can "design" an input keyboard using a standard keyboard setup or an external numeric pad.

Defined observation types can be attached to keys by simply dragging and dropping the observation icons on to the keyboard display.

Observation objects can be registered in the following formats:

Boolean : Two values : 0/1
Integer : Whole number input
Float : Any numeric number
Text : Any string value

As the values are entered it is possible to define the registration modes as:

Point : The observation is related to a chainage.
Segment : The observation is related to a predefined road section.
Static : The operator types in a value for the observation related to a particular road section.
This value will remain the same until the input value is changed.
Combo : A combination of point and static.
The precise location (point) along the road where the value of the observation is stored.
This value remains the same until the operator enters a new value, at which time the system will record the exact point.

As observations are entered an audible (recorded voice or tone) or visual confirmation in the view of bar graph can be seen.

The program is shipped with approximately 100 icons, covering observations on pavements, visual surveys, signs, pipes and drains, junctions, cycles tracks, bridges, iron work and road markings.
Other observation icons can be easily added.

System Requirements:

  • Windows 2000 with service pack 2 or Windows XP.
