  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering with multiple courses on Pavement and/or Transportation Engineering (Master of Science (MS) preferred)

  • PE Required (does not have to be a California PE)

  • Experience with GIS, CAD, data analysis tools, pavement structural evaluation (ELMOD), and Pavement Design software is a plus

  • Ability to travel (50% time)

  • Must be able to pass a background check to work on US military installations worldwide


Job Description

Dynatest is seeking a Pavement Engineer to work full-time in our Ventura, California, office. Dynatest’s Pavement Engineers provide technical and consulting support of pavement analysis and design projects as well as pavement management.  A Pavement Engineer is expected to work on new pavement and rehabilitation design for both Department of Defense and commercial airports and roadway pavements. Pavement Engineers are also expected to become fluent operating and working with data from Dynatest’s suite of pavement testing equipment and pavement software. The equipment includes Light Weight Deflectometers (LWD) Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWD), Heavy Weight Deflectometers (HWD), pavement profilers, highway and airfield friction testers, and pavement imaging systems. The software the Pavement Engineer will need to learn includes, MicroPAVER, StreetSaver, ELMOD, ArcGIS, Dynatest Explorer, Dynatest Control Center, Dynatest Solution Center, and others. Initially, the Pavement Engineer in this position will work under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer, but within 6 months it is expected that the new hire will be completely comfortable working independently on projects and be able to submit winning proposals for work under their own professional engineering license. The Pavement Engineer must also possess the skills to communicate and collaborate with teammates, clients and outside agencies. 



  • Assess the structure integrity of the existing pavement, determining the remaining life of the pavement and provide sustainable rehabilitation design recommendations to our clients using Elmond and/or CalME.

  • Closely work with technicians to conduct pavement condition surveys.

  • Determine the pavement condition index (PCI) using PAVER and Street Saver.

  • Communication with clients regarding project issues and attends meeting as required.

  • Prepare detailed street condition reports for our clients.

  • Conduct business development and submit complete proposals for new work.
